WELCOME TO CHILD MINISTRY AT SAINT JOHN VIANNEY CHRISTIAN FORMATION - All children are encouraged to take formal religious instruction beginning at age four. Christian Formation classes for K4-5th grade are offered on Sundays at 9:30-10:45am and 1st-5th grade on Wednesdays at 5:00-6:15pm. Classes held from September through May.  CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD - A worship experience geared especially for children which mirrors that of the larger community with an interactive style. The Word of God is read from the Children's Lectionary which is more easily understood and music is incorporated. The homily is based on the readings with questions to help stimulate discussion and children can share their thoughts and personal intentions.  Children's Liturgy of the Word meets every Saturday afternoon at the 4:30pm mass and every Sunday morning at the 11:00 am mass. The family begins Mass together and the children are called forward for the Liturgy of the Word. They are divided into two age groups which meet upstairs in the parish center. K4-1st grade gather in the Library and 2nd-4th grade gather in Room P210. All children are welcome and no registration is needed.   SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION - Children receive both the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in second grade. Although we focus our teaching to sacramental preparation this year, children receive sacramental instruction throughout all their years of religious education. For this reason, children must attend classes at least one year prior to receiving sacraments.  K3 WEEKDAY SUNDAY SCHOOL - A new program designed especially for three year olds with a    Sunday School format that meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00-11:00am. This first time school experience includes Bible stories, prayer, music, crafts, and snacks. Class size is limited to 10 children. Children must be potty trained.  VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - A week long adventure held each year at the end of June where children learn about God and the teachings of His Son, Jesus. We gather together each morning for prayer, song, stories, crafts, games, skits, and snacks. A fun learning experience that all children will enjoy even on their summer vacation.  We welcome you to be a part of Child Ministry at Saint John Vianney. If you need additional information, please feel free to contact the Christian Formation Office at 262-796-3944.
