Haiti Earthquake Relief
HAITI HELP CONTINUES
Our local Catholic community can be proud of its efforts in reaching out to our suffering brothers and sisters in Haiti.
All parishes took up a special collection on the weekend after the earthquake hit, with money being divided among these: immediate relief effort through Catholic Relief Services, long term development through ongoing relationships with Haiti, and specific help to Catholic parishes that were devastated by the disaster. Our World Mission Ministries also worked with local TV stations to raise money through their on-air efforts. In addition, several parishes in the Archdiocese have ongoing relationships with parishes there and have direct involvement in ongoing efforts to improve conditions and life there.
Donations can still be made through the Archdiocesan website to World Mission Ministries (at www.archmil.org). Please continue to pray for long term help and rebuilding.
PRAYER FOR HAITI
Dear God, as we gaze with you in horror and sadness over the death and destruction in Haiti, we lift our hearts to you seeking both your divine assistance for them and also for us to step up effectively to lend aid in every way we can to build a new nation with greater justice and equity, greater freedom and equality, greater faith and love, and a deep disavowal of violence. May our effective love of them give true witness of our faith in you and in our fellow human beings. We ask this in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Church is in solidarity with all the people of Haiti suffering from the tragic January 12 earthquake. As Catholics we are called upon to support all those who suffer in any part of the world, especially in times of special need, such as that following this earthquake. There are several ways to assist.

“Answer me, Lord, in your generous love; in your great mercy turn to me. Do not hide your face from your servant; in my distress hasten to answer me!” Psalm 69:17-18
1. Pray for those who suffer. Pray for comfort and relief and pray for peace for those who have died and left loved ones behind. This is one of our concrete responsibilities as Catholics and should not be overlooked.
2. Financial donations are desperately needed for relief. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is collecting funds which will be distributed to Catholic Relief Services for immediate relief (1/3), to local Haitian parishes and organizations (1/3), and used for continued infrastructure needs (1/3).
Make checks payable to ST JOHN VIANNEY PARISH. All of these funds will be sent to the World Missions Office, which will distribute them accordingly.

Thank you in advance for your generous response to those in dire need at this time.
May those who have died in Haiti from this earthquake, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
