SJV Athletic Board meeting   February 19, 2007

Members present:  Jeff Meyer, Tom Reuteman, Dave Gehringer, Bob Wilcox, Steve Ries, Bob Wellenstein, Dean Veling, Liz Sweet, Julie Jolitz, Lynn Kilb

Treasurer’s report—YTD gain is $20,712 which is $1,787 more than last year. Tournament revenue, concessions, and basketball fees made up most of the income for the past month...

Basketball report—The 7th grade tournament was a success and this ends the SJV tournament season. Bob Wilcox and Dean Veling get a big thanks for a job well done. We have been approached to host an all-star game. Bob Wellenstein is working out details with St. Joseph. We have no problem hosting but we are hoping St. Joe’s will do the administrative work. Bob will get an answer on this next week. The date for this game is March 14th and there will be a girls and boys game.

Volleyball update---Bob Wellenstein discussed the volleyball summer camp. Casey Brand will be contacted to run the camp. Dates of camp  Girls Grade 4&5  July 23-26  8:00-10:30 a.m.    Girls Grade 6&7    July 23-26   10:30-1:00      Cost is $75

Due to the size of the camp we will make sure Casey has an adequate staff. We will get Bob an assistant once the new board recruits start. We discussed the possibility of using one registration form for all three sports. Julie will check with WCSS and find out how their system works.

Track—Julie will be purchasing new starter blocks and an indoor high jump pit. So far 45 kids have registered and practice will begin on March 26. St. Dominics has invited us to their meet which will be held at Brookfield East. The track parent meeting is set for March 7th.

CYM—Dave stated that the season is winding down. There will be a year end tournament but Dave was not sure where this will be held.

Lynn Kilb discussed the current plans for the Athletic Banquet which will be held on May 24th. Tom Crean will be the guest speaker. Total cost to the board for this event is aprox. $800.

Tom discussed Jean Lewis’ role during basketball/volleyball games. There currently is no job description and there maybe should be. We all agreed that Jean should not be involved with official game decisions. We also will have the scorers get more training next year and they will be required to mop the floor at halftime and between games.

Jeff, Jeff and Bob will look into new uniforms. We will evaluate the condition of the basketball uniforms when they are turned in and then decide if we need new uniforms for next season.

Our next meeting is set for March 19, 2007

Respectfully submitted,    Jeffrey Meyer
