This intriguing title hints at the true significance of our second annual Parish Mission.

We live in trying times, and it is so often true that deep inside we have this urgent question. It is evidence of our longing for God and God's Kingdom in our world. And it is here!

Featuring Tom Zanzig

Come and hear from our speaker, Tom Zanzig.

After graduating from Marquette University in 1969 with a degree in theology and sociology, Tom's professional ministry career began as a Director of Religious Education for a single parish in Kimberly, Wisconsin.

After two years in that position he was hired as director of a five-parish religious education program for high school youth in his hometown of Appleton, Wisconsin. He guided that program for seven years, during which he was invited by Saint Mary’s Press (SMP) of Winona, Minnesota to publish the materials he had developed. That marked a major shift in his life and ministry career.

In 1978 Saint Mary’s Press invited him to join their staff. He accepted and moved his family to Winona. His role evolved to include writing, speaking, training, and consulting as a member of both the editorial and marketing teams. (To review my SMP publications, go to www.smp.org  and search “Zanzig.”) He stayed with the company for twenty-five years, leaving in 2003 to start a new career in a new place, Madison, Wisconsin.

**NEW** Childcare available during parish mission events (except 3/21 am).  Contact Christian Formation 262-796-3944 office to register.

It is called a mission because as a result of what is heard and prayed over during the days of the mission, the people who attend end up going forth into the world with a renewed sense of discipleship.
~ Fr. Ken Knippel, Pastor

What to expect:

Saturday and Sunday, March 17 & 18: Mr. Zanzig will speak at Mass to kick off the Mission.

Monday, March 19
7:00 AM Mass in Church followed by presentation The Terrain of Transformation: Mapping the Spiritual Landscape and refreshments in the Presentation Hall.
The spiritual journey has been described and understood in many ways, some more life-giving and helpful than others. In this session we explore a new way of naming and understanding what the spiritual life is all about.

7:00 PM Evening Prayer and Presentation Jesus the Way: Model, Mentor, and Companion for the Journey in Church, followed by refreshments in the Church Hall. The way we understand Jesus, his message and his meaning directly affects how we understand ourselves as his disciples. In this session we look at two contrasting perspectives on Jesus and what they might tell us about who we are called to be.

Tuesday, March 20
7:00 AM Mass in Church, followed by presentation The Adventure of Christian Discipleship: Following the Way of Jesus and refreshments in the Presentation Hall
Christians are not called to “follow Jesus” as if he were a guru and we his devoted students. Rather, discipleship is an invitation to deep, profound, personal transformation—the greatest adventure we’ll ever experience.

7:00 PM Evening Prayer and Presentation The Catholic Path: A Communal Journey to the Summit in Church, followed by refreshments in the Church Hall
Many spiritual seekers struggle to integrate their personal spirituality with their communal religious identity and practice. In this session we ask, in today’s world, what does a mature Catholic Christian “look like”?

Wednesday, March 21
7:00 AM Mass in Church, followed by presentation The Contemplative Path: Traits of a Transformed Heart and refreshments in the Presentation Hall
As we near the end of our mission, we identify the traits of one who has embraced the spiritual journey with integrity and been transformed through it, who has “been to the mountaintop and seen the Promised Land.”

7:00 PM Presentation Life Lessons from the Journey: The Seven Habits of a Slightly Defective Trekker and closing Mass in Church, followed by refreshments in the Church Hall Tom Zanzig concludes our mission by sharing the personal lessons he’s learned during his own “summit-seeking” spiritual journey. We then celebrate the gifts of the mission in a deeply Catholic way—with Eucharist and refreshments!

Eucharistic Adoration in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel will be ongoing Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, between 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM.

Opportunities to sign up for a shift are posted on the wall outside the chapel. (We like to have someone present at all times.)
