Respect Life Committee
Role
Respect Life Committee is a subcommittee of Christian Formation Board of Parish Council. Respect Life Committee is a leadership group of parish members who together with the pastor explore issues around the sanctity of life, and then to help educate the parish, holding special events from time to time as needed.
Responsibility
Inspired by and committed to the Catholic Church’s consistent, untiring commitment to respect for all human life, and a conviction that all human life is a precious gift of God and worthy of respect, protection, and love, the committee seeks, through prayer, education, and activism to evoke a respect for all of human life, from conception to natural death. The committee seeks to be active in the full spectrum of all life issues, desiring a consistent ethic of life, but with a special emphasis on the tragedies of abortion and euthanasia.
Regular meetings for planning and formation on life issues, opportunities for prayer and action. Monitor legislative and community developments that affect the dignity of human life. Education and formation for the parish via bulletin inserts, speaker series’ or other means. Fundraisers and activities to assist those choosing life, especially during October, which is recognized by USCCB as Respect Life Month. The Respect Life Committee includes and expands upon the organization, ministry and activities of ‘Parishioners Protecting the Preborn.’

Current members of the 2009-2010 Respect Life Committee are:

In addition to the ex officio members and subcommittee liaisons, the committee consists of nine (9) at-large members who serve a term of three years, with one successive renewal term allowed if the committee so discerns.
