Respect Life Ministry
Role
Respect Life is a ministry under Human Concerns. Respect Life is a leadership group of parish members who, together with the pastor, explore issues around the sanctity of life, and then to help educate the parish, holding special events from time to time as needed.
Responsibility
Inspired by and committed to the Catholic Church’s consistent, untiring commitment to respect for all human life, and a conviction that all human life is a precious gift of God and worthy of respect, protection, and love, the ministry seeks, through prayer, education, and activism to evoke a respect for all of human life, from conception to natural death. The ministry seeks to be active in the full spectrum of all life issues, desiring a consistent ethic of life, but with a special emphasis on the tragedies of abortion and euthanasia.
Regular meetings for planning and formation on life issues, opportunities for prayer and action. Monitor legislative and community developments that affect the dignity of human life. Education and formation for the parish via bulletin inserts, speaker series’ or other means. Fundraisers and activities to assist those choosing life, especially during October, which is recognized by USCCB as Respect Life Month. The Respect Life Ministry includes and expands upon the organization, ministry and activities of ‘Parishioners Protecting the Preborn.’
