The 8th graders did research on one of their nationalities as a follow-up to a chapter on immigration. It included information on the following topics: current political facts, customs, fun facts, the flag and its meaning, a detailed map of the country, common phrases, ten interesting photos with captions, music, ethnic food recipe, among other things. All this information was put on a tri-fold poster and displayed in the lower church hall. In the evening the students also brought in a sampling of their food which they and guests enjoyed. From Irish stew and Mexican rice to German chocolate cake and Filipino turon, they traveled the world sampling unique foods. Students also displayed German beer steins, Irish dance ballet shoes, Chinese art work, an Italian rosary, and much more. The students explored one of their ethnicities, learned much about their family history, and had a fun time in the process.
