Fundraising while you shop


Scrip is a national gift certificate fundraising program.  The consumer purchases the gift card(s) at face value.  The retailer sells cards to St. John Vianney School at a discounted rate, allowing SJV to keep the difference between the face value of the card and the price at which the cards were purchased by the organization.  For example, the Pick 'n Save gift card valued at $100 has a 4% donation rate.  When this card is purchased through Scrip, $4 is donated to St. John Vianney.  When this gift card is redeemed at a Pick 'n Save store, the value of received merchandise is $100.

In 2010-'11, the Scrip program provided over $8,000 in revenues for Home & School Association. Christian Formation families may also received tuition reimbursements.



How to Order


Order Forms are due by 8:30am Monday to the school/parish office.To view all of the vendors available through the SCRIP program, click on the logo below.

New orders to Scrip are always welcome!  Scrip order forms are available in the Parish or School office.  The SJV order form is customized for southeastern Wisconsin retailers.  Gift cards can be purchased from any nation-wide retailer; simply add the retailer name, quantity of cards needed and total amount due on the blank lines of the form.  Send the completed form with check attached (payable to SJV Scrip) to the school office by 8:30 a.m. on most Monday mornings during the school year.  Certificates are distributed on Thursdays.  Parish and Christian Formation families may send an order with payment on Sunday for pick up on Thursday or Sunday.  Scrip orders sent in on Mondays of shortened school weeks will be processed the following week.

Participating retailers donate 1% to 25% of the face value of gift cards to St. John Vianney.  Gift cards are treated like cash at most retailers.  Purchase gift cards to use in everyday shopping for groceries, clothing, toys, gifts and even gasoline.  Retailers that make gift cards available through Scrip are Sendik’s, Kohl’s, Pick 'n Save, Panera, Starbucks, Boston Market, Barnes & Noble, BP/Amoco, Mobil, Boston Store, Pier One Imports, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Land's End, Best Buy, Circuit City and Marcus Theaters... to name just a few.  Nation-wide stores, hotels & airlines participate in the Scrip program.  The possibilities are endless!  Scrip certificates make great gifts for teachers, coaches and family members!  Click on the logo above for the full list of opportunities.



Reimbursement Plan


At St. John Vianney School, the profit from the sale of gift cards is split 50/50 with participating purchasers.  Fifty percent of profit generated by the sale of gift cards is returned to Home & School Association.  The other fifty percent of profit goes back to the purchaser of the gift cards, who may choose one of several options for the application of that portion of the profit.  Participants in the Scrip program choose to have the profit applied to the following year’s tuition for their own, or another families’ school or Christian Formation tuition, or choose to return profit to either the Home & School or the Christian Formation programs of St. John Vianney.  Using the Pick 'n Save example above, Home & School Association receives $2.00 and the purchaser designates the recipient of the remaining $2.00.
