League Information
St. John Vianney commits to the Notre Dame-Don Bosco League which runs November - March.  The number of teams is based upon the number of registrations for each grade. 

SJV BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS
SJV typically hosts a total of three basketball tournaments (6th, 7th, and 8th grade). Since tournaments are the main fundraiser for the SJV Athletic Program and every athlete benefits from the money rasied, all families from the respective grade are required to help with concession duty and clean-up, even if their team is not particpating in the tournament. Team managers coordinate your involvement. Mark your calendar! You are required to participate.

CONCESSION DUTY

2011-2012 Basketball Season Concession Duty Schedule

Families, excluding only the head basketball coach, are required to do concession duty a minimum of one time during regular basketball season. This may increase due to need. As mentioned above, families are assigned to work concessions during their grade’s SJV tournament, regardless of whether or not their team is participating. Your help and cooperation are greatly appreciated!  Failure to meet your assigned concession duty may result in the child's suspension from the next game.  Please refer to the athletic manual for clarification.



VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The SJV athletic program is run entirely by volunteers. Your help is greatly needed! Please make sure you check an area of interest under the volunteer section on the registration form.

REGISTRATION
Completed forms & checks are due Friday, September 30, 2011 to the parish or school office. Late registrations are only accepted if space permits and subject to a $20 late fee (no exceptions).

A check made payable to SJV Athletics for $105 nonrefundable participation fee ($125 if after Friday September 30, 2011, no exceptions) is due with forms.

Note: Athletes will not be allowed to participate in any practices until all forms and payment are complete & turned in, including the Physical Exam form.

2011 TEAM SPLITS SCHEDULE -
Athletes should attend both nights if listed.

Athletes grade as of fall 2011:
5th grade Tuesday, Nov. 8 5-6:30pm
6th grade Tuesday Nov. 8 7-8:30pm
7th grade Mon & Wed, Nov. 7 and Nov. 9 5:30-7pm
8th grade Mon & Wed, Nov. 7 and Nov. 9 7:30-9pm

Parent Meeting: Tuesday, Oct 25 7pm - Presentation Hall.

Coaches Meeting: Thursday, October 27 7 p.m. in Room A105/room by the Activity Center. Coaches must attend Safeguarding All of God's Family (formerly Virtus training) and coaches training prior to the season. This is a one-time requirement.

Parents and team members are responsible for knowing and abiding by the policies in the Athletic Manual.


PRACTICES
Typically, practices start the week after team splits. Coaches contact their team with weekly practice days and times. Teams practice twice a week for 1-1/2 hours each practice.
