St. Vincent de Paul Meal Program
St. Vincent de Paul Family Resource Center at 2628 N Martin Luther King Drive,
Milwaukee, provides hot meals for the local community.
We, the people of St. John Vianney, provide that meal on the third Tuesday of every month. The program serves 150-200 people.
The meal we serve consists of a chicken and rice casserole, vegetable, cranberries, fruit, milk, bread and homemade dessert.
Each family or person provides one of these food items by purchasing or preparing it at home and delivering it to SJV's parish kitchen between 3:15 - 4pm on the third Tuesday.
Contact Dick Fedler, SVdP Meal Program Coordinator (262) 814-0288 for more information or to volunteer to help. |

| For St. John Vianney Parish, the St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) meal program is an all-parish, independent project that has been operating for many years. |

Servers / Drivers
Parish members are invited to help serve and/or be a driver each month to deliver the food.
Servers need to be at the SVDP Resource Center by 5pm.
Drivers need to be at St. John Vianney's kitchen by 4pm to load the food and deliver to the Resource Center. At the Resource Center, drivers will assist with serving and perhaps enjoy a meal. The meal and clean up are finished by 6:30pm. |

Chicken & Rice Casserole
The main entre served is a Chicken and Rice casserole - a favorite! The recipe is quite simple:
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 can Cream of Celery soup
2 cups milk (powdered is okay)
2 cups Minute rice (or use regular and increase liquid)
8 or more pieces of chicken (breasts, legs, etc (please no necks or giblets))
1 pkg dry onion soup mix
Spray roasted pan with Pam. Mix rice, soups, milk and dry soup together in pan. Top with chicken. Cover and bake at 350 for 90min-2 hours or until chicken is thoroughly cooked. Deliver to SJV piping hot!

Our prayer is that people we serve at the Resource Center will see Jesus and His love in our actions, and that each of us will see Jesus in the people we serve.
I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me drink: ... I tell you, indeed, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for me." Matthew 25:35 |
