School uniforms are expected to maintain order and create an atmosphere of importance on academic growth and progress. Students are expected to dress in full uniform every school day unless determined Out-of-Uniform day by school administration. Attire at any school function is subject to the guidelines of the SJV uniform expectations.
The school uniform must match the style of the vendor specified below. Suggested locations for purchase include: Lands' End (School Code: 900075151), JC Penney, The Uniform Place, Target (French Toast brand name), Kohl’s (Sonoma brand name), Toys R Us (Lee brand name), or the Gap. Talbots carries another option for slacks.
Girls’ Requirements
Students may not wear long-sleeved shirts under short-sleeved shirts. Only white undershirts may be worn under uniform short-sleeved shirts provided they are not visible except at the collar.

Dress Code Violations:
Determination of whether a student is in compliance with the dress code is at the discretion of the teacher/school administration. The school administration is the ultimate authority regarding the uniform guidelines. Any item(s) not specifically addressed by these guidelines are at the discretion of the school administration. The administration may call parents/guardians to request that appropriate clothing be brought to school so the child may be in conformity with the school’s dress code. Failure to adhere to the uniform guidelines undermines the educational environment at St. John Vianney School.
After several verbal warnings, a teacher may issue a written notification that is sent home to parents informing them of their child’s dress code violation(s). This notice must be signed and returned to the homeroom teacher. Repeat offenders (more than 3 notifications between Out of Uniform Days) are not permitted to participate in the next Out of Uniform Day.
